Facundo Fierro Artista

​​He Is one of the most representative painters and sculptors in the Canary Islands. A multifaceted artist prominent in architecture and urban design who characterises himself as a defender of the natural and cultural values of the islands. He also has experience in the world of image and design. A synthesis of his archipelago; he was born in Las Palmas of a La Palma family background and travelled around Europe learning from the great painters while developing his own style. “Facundo Fierro is himself and only himself. Since 1976 he has dedicated himself exclusively to painting. He had a studio in Paris then moved to Madrid where he now lives, although he continually visits the Canaries. A permanent traveler, his paintings appear in various international collections.

 

 

He started painting in watercolour, where he achieved his maximum technical abilty. Today, he expresses himself in acrylics, murals and other techniques; he is currently experimenting with mixed media, transferring his environmental sensations in texture onto canvas. He actively participated in the beginnings of “la movida madrileña”, and founded “El Taller” in Santa Cruz de La Palma with a group of intellectuals and artists which initiated an exploration of the world of engraving to which he contributed some notable editions. His sculpture in open spaces uses the language of organic and abstract forms to capture and envelop those large spaces, involving the viewer in the landscape. His figurative work, especially in bronze, creates monumental processes of a different kind.
